Session on e-waste policies, strategies and frameworks

This session on e-waste policies, strategies and frameworks will take place at ITU Headquarters (ITU Montbrillant building, Room H) in Geneva,​​ Switzerland on Tuesday, 9 October 2018, from 14:30 to 17:30 prior to the ITU-D Study Group 2 Question 6/2 meeting on 10 October 2018 d​e​dicated to “ICTs and the environment”​.

[14:30 - 14:40] Welcome and setting the scene

[14:40 - 15:45] Session 1: Challenges and opportunities related to e-waste management

Session 1 will provide an overview on the current challenges and opportunities in e-waste management. As an important step towards addressing the e-waste challenge, panellists will address the need to monitor and measure e-waste, raise awareness on the environmental and health risks derived from this type of waste, as well as the job opportunities e-waste offers.​

[16:00 - 17:20] Session 2: Policies, strategies and best practices for the sound management of e-waste

Session 2 will focus on best practices, challenges and lessons learned with regards to the development of policy, legal and regulatory frameworks as well as share information on international initiatives to tackle the e-waste problems. ​
